Elevate (Freedom is a Place)
My Role: Curation, Partnership Development, Artist Support, and Project Delivery
Elevate (Freedom is a Place) was a public artwork by April Banks, presented by The Nicholson Project, that reimagined the stoop as both a sculptural monument and a communal gathering space. Installed within the organization’s community garden, the work explored themes of Black spatial practice, leisure, freedom, and collective memory through architectural forms that invited rest, reflection, performance, and public dialogue.
